Sprint Force Velocity Profiles in One Fútbol Club

INTRODUCTION

Sprinting is a key and determining factor in the physical performance of soccer, not only to be able to reach maximum speeds, but to be able to cover a certain distance in the shortest possible time [1]. In explosive actions, the key factor is related to the ability to accelerate as much as possible in the shortest time [2]. In fútball, rapid acceleration, and sprint movements are common in many decisive match actions [3]. The objective of the work is to describe the strength-speed profile of soccer players at different ages and the differences between them.

METHODS

A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 187 soccer players, 153 men (81.8%) and 34 women (18.2%) participating. The strength-velocity profile of each player was recorded using a 240 fpm camera and analyzed using the Samozino method [4] through two 30-meter sprints. The data was analyzed with the SPSS statistical program (v27.0). The P-value was set at 0.05 to establish statistical significance. The study was approved by the ethics committee of the CEU San Pablo University of Madrid (665/23/TFM).

RESULTS

The team that presented the highest F0 values was the 2nd Women's team, although it only presented significant differences compared to the U11-12 team (p=.043); The team with the highest V0 and Vmax was the 2nd male team that presented significant differences (P<.05) with all the teams except the U17-18 team. The U17-18 team reached the highest values of Pmax and RFmax, with both presenting significant differences (P<.05) with all the teams except the 2nd Men's team. The 2nd Men's team presented the best Drf values, presenting significant differences (p<.05) with both women's, U13-14, and U11-12 teams.

CONCLUSIONS

The differences found will allow us to plan training aimed at improving sprint performance in soccer players more precisely.
